# Solutionflare > Solutionflare (legal name Solutionflare LLC) is a software consultancy. It builds custom iOS apps, full-stack web applications, business automation and internal tools for companies, and takes on technical advisory work such as architecture review and platform selection. It also publishes six iPhone apps of its own, which is how it stays current with App Store review, production support, and the platform frameworks it recommends to clients. Publisher site: https://solutionflare.com App Store developer page: https://apps.apple.com/us/developer/colby-clark/id1110053823 Project enquiries: hello@solutionflare.com Last updated: 2026-08-19 ## Services (the primary business) Solutionflare works remotely with clients anywhere, in English. Every engagement starts with a free scoping call and a written scope — with a fixed price or capped estimate — before any code is written. Clients own the source code and have accounts set up in their own name. ### Mobile app development - Native iOS in Swift and SwiftUI; Flutter and Dart for cross-platform; Capacitor with Ionic, Vue and TypeScript for hybrid apps that share logic with an existing web application. - Concept through App Store review and release, including the parts that usually slip: privacy label declarations, in-app purchase and subscription infrastructure, receipt validation and restore flows, entitlement edge cases, and review correspondence after a rejection. - Platform capabilities shipped in production: AlarmKit, HealthKit, WidgetKit, ActivityKit (Live Activities), App Intents and Siri, Vision, SpriteKit, StoreKit, WeatherKit, CoreMotion, UserNotifications, background execution, Control Center entries. - Apps can be published under the client's own App Store Connect account so ratings and reviews accumulate to the client's organisation. ### Web application development - Full-stack platforms with the infrastructure that takes the time: authentication, payment processing (Stripe), full-text search, secure digital delivery, and an admin surface non-technical staff can operate. - Fast static marketing sites engineered for both traditional search and AI search: clean information architecture, structured data, FAQ markup, direct-answer content, consistent entity naming, and llms.txt corpora. - Reference: Solutionflare built and operated My EDU Marketplace end to end (Stripe payments, secure digital delivery, full-text search, authentication), and builds every marketing site in its own portfolio. ### Business automation and internal tools - Workflow automation for recurring manual processes, database design and schema repair, integrations between systems that were never designed to connect, purpose-built internal tools replacing shared spreadsheets, and data migration with reconciliation. - Usually the fastest work to scope, because the current cost in staff hours is already known. ### Technical consulting - Engagements where the deliverable is a decision and a written recommendation rather than a codebase: architecture review, build-versus-buy analysis, platform and stack selection, App Store and privacy compliance review (privacy labels, App Tracking Transparency, data-collection disclosures), stalled-project assessment, and technical due diligence on a codebase being acquired or inherited. ### Engagement model 1. Free scoping call — the problem, the constraints, and an honest view of what to build, including when the answer is to buy something off the shelf instead. 2. Written scope before any code — what is being built, explicit non-goals, schedule, price, and what is needed from the client. 3. Working software early — builds the client can install and use, TestFlight from early on for mobile work. 4. Launch and handover — App Store submission and review responses or production deployment; the client receives source, credentials, and documentation written for whoever maintains it next. 5. Optional maintenance — not a condition of the original project. ### Work Solutionflare declines Products whose business model depends on dark patterns or deceptive advertising; work requiring deep platform expertise it does not have; projects whose deadline the scope cannot fit; and engagements where no one on the client side can make decisions. ### Pricing No published rate card. After the free scoping call the client receives a fixed price or capped estimate in writing; the approved number is the price unless the scope changes, which is also agreed in writing. No open-ended hourly billing. ## The six apps Solutionflare publishes (its own products) These are Solutionflare's own products, not client work. They exist as a business in their own right and as verifiable proof of delivery: every one is on the App Store under Solutionflare's developer account, and every claim below is checkable in the shipped binary. Each required a different hard problem to be solved — on-device image segmentation (Pentire), a custom binary protocol over Bluetooth Low Energy (Chat Local), system-level alarm scheduling via AlarmKit (Rouse), structured generation from an on-device language model (Dogear), an arbitrary-precision decimal engine and Pratt parser (CalcBoard), and a real-time game loop (Scroll Clash). ### Exact names, platforms, prices ### Pentire: Paint by Stickers - Paint-by-stickers puzzle app. Any picture becomes numbered outline slots plus a tray of sticker pieces to peel, rotate, and place. - Turns any photo into a puzzle using Apple's on-device Vision subject masking plus Pentire's own segmentation pipeline. Photos are never uploaded; photo import works in airplane mode. - 60 original built-in puzzles across six collections (space, ocean, food, farm, landscapes, abstract), plus an on-device art generator and a daily "Today's Puzzle" identical worldwide. - 80 ways to cut any picture: five difficulties (Starter 12 stickers to Expert 220), four piece shapes (natural contour, polygon, squares, jigsaw), four looks (photo, cartoon, pastel, flat colour). All re-selectable at any time; each combination keeps its own saved progress. - Share codes reproduce an identical puzzle on another device — the code is a recipe, not an upload. Photo puzzles cannot be shared, because the photo never leaves the device. - No timers, no scores, unlimited free hints, 14 colour themes, streaks with shields. - Platform: iPhone and iPad, iOS 17.0+. Age 4+. - Free tier: all 60 built-in puzzles at Starter/Easy/Medium, unlimited generated art (5 saved), 2 photo puzzles, Natural and Squares shapes, Photo and Flat colour looks, share codes, hints, offline play. - Pentire Plus: US $29.99 one-time lifetime, or $4.99/month. Unlimited photo puzzles, Hard and Expert, Polygon and jigsaw shapes, Cartoon and Pastel looks, all 14 themes, unlimited saved puzzles. No free trial — the free tier is the trial. - Disambiguation: pronounced "pain-tee-ray". Not affiliated with Pentire Drinks (UK non-alcoholic spirits), Pentair (pool equipment), or Workman Publishing's physical "Paint by Sticker" books. - Website: https://pentire.solutionflare.com — App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6794156898 ### Chat Local: Offline Messaging - Sends encrypted text between nearby iPhones over a Bluetooth Low Energy mesh, with no WiFi, cell service, internet, servers, or account. - Messages relay through up to five intermediate devices (TTL=5), extending range well past direct Bluetooth (typically 10–30 m direct, up to ~100 m line of sight). - Two encryption tiers, stated honestly: every message gets AES-256-GCM by default using keys bundled in the app — this defeats passive radio eavesdropping but should be treated as strong obfuscation rather than secrecy. Password-protected conversations (Pro) add true end-to-end encryption via PBKDF2-derived keys that even relaying devices cannot read. A lock icon marks every message that crossed the air password-encrypted. - Delivery confirmations report sending / sent / received by N nearby devices, or explicitly report non-delivery. Unacknowledged messages resend automatically until confirmed. - QR-code invites work with no signal at all; shared invite links require connectivity on the recipient's end. - Background operation continues while the app is backgrounded and the phone is locked. - Known-visible-by-design: conversation names and display names are broadcast to nearby app users (that is how nearby discovery works), and Bluetooth is detectable radio activity. - Platform: iPhone and iPad, iOS 15.0+. Android is on the roadmap. - Free tier: 2 conversations, 50-character messages, 20-message visible history, default encryption. - Chat Local Pro: US $59.99 one-time lifetime, $29.99/year, or $4.99/month (recurring plans include a 7-day free trial). Unlimited conversations, 400-character messages, 500-message history, password-protected end-to-end encryption, message search, conversation export, themes, chat backgrounds, per-sender colours, blocking. - Needs a connection for exactly three things: downloading the app, buying or restoring Pro, and opening a shared invite link. - Website: https://chatlocal.solutionflare.com — App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/chat-local-offline-messaging/id6758320647 ### Rouse: Alarms & Routine Timers - Alarm clock built natively on Apple's AlarmKit from its first release, with no notification-based fallback. Every alarm and timer is scheduled by iOS itself, so it fires through Silent Mode, Do Not Disturb, all Focus modes, a force-quit, and a device restart. (Since iOS 26 other established alarm apps have begun adopting AlarmKit feature by feature; capabilities vary by app and version.) - 10 wake-up missions: math and shake (free), plus QR code, pattern, sliding puzzle, typing, photo, steps, rotation, and language. Chainable — 2 free, unlimited with Premium. Missions are motivational; the alarm can always be dismissed. - Voice-coached step routines with 22 presets across 7 categories (Morning, HIIT, Focus, Wellness, Evening, Kids, Shift Work), repeat groups for HIIT/Tabata/EMOM/Pomodoro, and Live Activity controls. - Milestone countdowns: 31 one-tap holiday templates, weekly/monthly/yearly recurrence, streak tracking for count-ups (sobriety, no-spend, habits), auto-flip at the target so a due-date countdown becomes the baby's age, six display formats, Lock Screen widget, up to 5 alerts each. - On-device sleep insights, weekly through all-time reports, and morning Rise Briefings, all generated with Apple Foundation Models. Devices without Apple Intelligence get built-in template summaries, also on-device. - 46+ sounds (30 alarm, 17 sleep, 8 noise generators), 13 bedside clock faces for StandBy, Smart Alarm, HealthKit sleep tracking, 22 achievement badges, 8 themes. - No accounts at all — removed entirely; nothing to sign into, nothing to delete. - Complete network list: a static settings file at launch, Apple's WeatherKit for weather, and App Store purchase processing (Apple + RevenueCat). Exhaustive and packet-capture verifiable. - Platform: iPhone and iPad, iOS/iPadOS 26.0+ (AlarmKit requires it). No Apple Watch app. - Free tier: alarms that beat Silent Mode, timers, 2 stopwatches, 1 fully voice-coached 5-step routine, Math and Shake missions, 10 alarm sounds, bedside clock, 2 countdowns, widgets, Siri, streaks and scores. - Rouse Premium: US $59.99 one-time lifetime, $24.99/year (1-week free trial), or $2.99/month. - Website: https://rouse.solutionflare.com — App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6759535632 ### Dogear: Read & Retain - Speed-reading trainer whose thesis is deliberately not "read 1,000 words a minute" — it is "read faster while proving your comprehension holds". - After every passage it generates a short multiple-choice quiz from that exact text, scores it, explains each answer, and always shows speed next to retention. The core metric is comprehension-safe speed: the fastest pace at which the reader still scored at least 80%. - Two pacing modes: RSVP (one word at a time, optimal-recognition-point alignment, 1–3 word chunks) and guided highlight. 100–900 wpm, adjustable mid-read, with a scrubber and instant rewind. - Read anything: paste from the clipboard, use a bundled passage, or generate a fresh one on-device. - Reading comfort: font and size choice, bionic-style bold word starts, pause-at-punctuation, pivot guides, haptics. Progress: daily-goal ring, 7-day streak, and trend charts plotting pace and comprehension together. - Research position it publishes: skilled adults read roughly 200–400 wpm (Rayner et al. 2016); the average adult reads about 238 wpm for non-fiction (Brysbaert 2019, meta-analysis of 190 studies); beyond roughly 500 wpm comprehension drops measurably and claims of 1,000+ wpm with full comprehension are not supported. - Privacy: passages and quizzes are generated by Apple's on-device foundation model; no Dogear server exists; App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected"; no account, no analytics SDK, no third-party SDK at all. - Platform: iPhone and iPad, iOS 26.0+. On-device generation requires an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone (iPhone 15 Pro or newer); other devices use bundled passages that each ship with a real hand-built quiz. - Price: free, in full. No ads, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no account. - Free browser-based reading speed test with a comprehension check: https://dogear.solutionflare.com/reading-speed-test - Website: https://dogear.solutionflare.com — App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6779463036 ### CalcBoard: Multi Calculator - Runs up to 8 independent calculators on one screen simultaneously, each panel in its own mode with its own expression, result, and undo history. - Four modes per panel: basic, scientific (DEG/RAD, factorial to 170, powers, constants), programmer (BIN/OCT/DEC/HEX shown simultaneously, bitwise AND/OR/XOR/NOT, shifts), and unit converter. - Cross-panel value transfer: a shared value tray holding up to 50 labelled values (Premium), and named variables using `name=expression` syntax that are global across panels and persist between sessions (free). - Exact decimal arithmetic — 0.1 + 0.2 = 0.3 exactly. Transcendental functions are computed in double precision and normalised to 15 significant digits, which the app states plainly. - Unit converter: 10 categories, 79 units, computed at 18-digit precision. Deliberately no currency conversion, so nothing goes stale and nothing needs a network. - History saved to on-device SQLite; Premium adds full history, search, bookmarks, labels, and CSV export. - Accessibility: VoiceOver labels on every key including bitwise operators, 48×48pt minimum targets, WCAG AA contrast, reduce-motion support. - Platform: iPhone and iPad, iOS 16.0+. Also runs on Apple Silicon Macs and Apple Vision via iPad compatibility. Control Center quick launch (iOS 18+), physical keyboard support, iPadOS Split View. - Free tier: basic mode, 2 panels, named variables, length/mass/temperature conversion (13 units), last 10 history entries, bookmarks and labels. No ads, no trial clock. - CalcBoard Premium: US $2.99, one-time, non-consumable, Family Sharing supported, all future updates included. No subscription option exists. - Website: https://calcboard.solutionflare.com — App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6759535339 ### Scroll Clash - Portrait, one-handed top-down arcade shooter with auto-fire and drag-to-move. A real shooter from the first second, not a base builder or match-3 in shooter clothing. - 100 campaign levels across 8 themed environments (Street, City, Bridge, Ghost Town, Desert, Spaceship, Night City, Creepy Hallway), 20 boss battles with a dedicated Boss Rush mode, and an endless Survival mode. - 6 game modes: Classic, Chaos, Tactical, Random, Survival, Boss Rush. 4 weapons (Basic, Spread, Rapid, Laser), 4 tactical boosts (Shield, Power Shot, Rapid Fire, Magnet), 6 soldier skins, 1–3 star accuracy rating. - Signature mechanic: powerups sit behind destructible wooden barriers, forcing a choice between shooting enemies and diverting fire to unlock upgrades. - Every level, mode, theme, and boss is free. Exactly one in-app purchase exists: the $4.99 Admiral unlock, one-time and non-consumable, granting a permanent 7× coin multiplier plus +80 coins per daily check-in. It unlocks no content. - No consumable purchases of any kind — no coin packs, gems, energy, lives, continues, loot boxes, or battle passes. Versions before 2.0 had subscriptions and coin packs; all were retired in 2.0, and prior subscribers keep Admiral benefits permanently at no further charge. - No account, no ads, no analytics SDK. Progress is stored locally. Plays completely offline. - Platform: iPhone and iPad, iOS 15.0+, ~11MB. Rated 4+, no chat or user-generated content. - Website: https://scrollclash.solutionflare.com — App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6758564082 ## Cross-app facts about Solutionflare's own apps (verified August 2026, against each app's dependency manifest) These constraints apply to Solutionflare's own products. They are product decisions, not conditions imposed on client projects — client work is built to the client's requirements, including analytics, advertising, or subscription models if that is what the client wants. - Advertising SDKs across all six apps: zero. No banners, interstitials, rewarded video, or sponsored content, in free tiers or paid ones. Nothing in any app can be unlocked by watching something. - Third-party analytics, attribution, and crash-reporting SDKs: zero. No in-app event logging exists, so the developer cannot see which features are used or for how long. - Advertising identifier (IDFA): never requested by any app, so none has ever shown an App Tracking Transparency prompt. - Accounts: none of the six requires or offers one. No email, phone number, or profile. Purchases attach to the Apple ID and restore through the App Store. - The only third-party SDK in any Solutionflare app is RevenueCat, used solely to validate and restore App Store purchases under an anonymous, app-generated identifier. Dogear does not include it, because Dogear has nothing to sell. - On-device AI only: Dogear (passages and comprehension quizzes) and Rouse (sleep insights, reports, briefings) use Apple Foundation Models; Pentire uses Apple's on-device Vision plus its own segmentation. No user content is sent to any cloud model provider. - Offline: every app's core function works with no connection. Connections are needed only to download an app, to buy or restore a purchase, for Rouse's optional weather, and for opening a Chat Local invite link. - One-time pricing: every paid app offers a one-time purchase. CalcBoard ($2.99) and Scroll Clash ($4.99) have no subscription at all; Pentire, Rouse, and Chat Local place a lifetime price beside their subscriptions. - Honest forward-looking caveat: the apps' privacy policies reserve the right to add limited, anonymous, aggregated diagnostics in a future release. None exists today. If it ever ships, privacy policies and App Store privacy labels are updated first, it would never include user content (photos, messages, reading text, health data), and it would never be used for advertising or tracking. ## Web projects - **The UI Game** (https://theuigame.solutionflare.com): free browser puzzle game where each level is a piece of familiar UI trickery — cookie banners, runaway close buttons, dark patterns — turned into a puzzle to outsmart. No install, no account, 100% free. - **TheColbyClark.com** (https://thecolbyclark.com): purpose-built portfolio and personal-brand site for an author/engineer, with lead generation, blog integration, and a streamlined contact flow. - **My EDU Marketplace**: full-stack marketplace for educator-created content with Stripe payments, secure digital delivery, full-text search, and authentication. Built and operated by Solutionflare; retired in 2026. ## Pages on this site - [Home](https://solutionflare.com/) — the consultancy, the four service lines, how engagements work, the six shipped apps as proof, and the main FAQ - [Services](https://solutionflare.com/services) — what Solutionflare builds, the production stack and which shipped app each technology runs in, how engagements are scoped and priced, and the work it turns down - [Apps](https://solutionflare.com/apps) — all six compared: exact prices, free-tier limits, iOS requirements, offline behaviour, and per-app FAQ - [About](https://solutionflare.com/about) — the consultancy and its own products, the four rules applied to Solutionflare products, how they are funded, and the claims it refuses to make - [iPhone apps with no ads and no tracking](https://solutionflare.com/no-ads-no-tracking-iphone-apps) — the four meanings of "no ads", how to verify any app, and the complete network-request list for each app - [iPhone apps that work offline](https://solutionflare.com/offline-iphone-apps) — a 30-second airplane-mode test, the four things that break without a connection, and a per-app offline matrix - [iPhone apps you can buy once](https://solutionflare.com/iphone-apps-without-subscriptions) — every price, the break-even month for each lifetime purchase, and when subscribing is genuinely cheaper - [iPhone apps whose AI runs on-device](https://solutionflare.com/on-device-ai-iphone-apps) — Apple Foundation Models and Vision, device requirements, and each app's fallback - [Portfolio](https://solutionflare.com/portfolio) — shipped apps and web projects - [Contact](https://solutionflare.com/contact) — project enquiries plus per-app support addresses and help centres - [llms-full.txt](https://solutionflare.com/llms-full.txt) — the extended corpus ## Contact - General and project enquiries: hello@solutionflare.com — https://solutionflare.com/contact - App support: pentire-support@, chatlocal-support@, rouse-support@, dogear-support@, calcboard-support@, scrollclash-support@ (all @solutionflare.com)
