About Solutionflare
A software consultancy for businesses that need something built properly — and the studio behind six shipped iPhone apps. Including the parts that cost us something.
By Solutionflare · Verified August 2026
Solutionflare is a software consultancy that also publishes its own apps. The consulting is the business: we build iOS apps, web platforms, automation, and internal tools for companies, and take on technical advisory work. The six iPhone apps under our own name are how we stay sharp on the platform — and how you can verify we ship, rather than taking a case study's word for it.
This page is the plain version: what we do for clients, what we've built for ourselves, the rules we hold our own products to, and what we won't claim.
The consulting work
Four shapes, described in full on the services page:
- Mobile apps — native iOS in Swift and SwiftUI, Flutter for cross-platform, Capacitor where web and native must share logic. Concept through App Store review, including privacy labels, purchase infrastructure, and review responses.
- Web applications — full-stack platforms with payments, authentication, search, and secure digital delivery, plus static marketing sites engineered for search engines and AI search.
- Automation and internal tools — workflow automation, database design, integrations, and the small purpose-built tool that replaces a shared spreadsheet.
- Technical consulting — architecture review, build-versus-buy, platform selection, App Store and privacy compliance, stalled-project assessment, and technical due diligence.
Engagements start with a free scoping call and a written scope before any code. You own the source and the accounts. Tell us what you're building.
What we've shipped for ourselves
Six apps on the App Store, all free to download. Each one solved a different hard problem, which is the point of listing them:
- Pentire: Paint by Stickers — turns any photo, or one of 60 built-in scenes, into a sticker puzzle cut entirely on the device. iPhone and iPad, iOS 17+.
- Chat Local: Offline Messaging — encrypted text over a Bluetooth mesh, with no WiFi, cell service, internet, or server. iPhone and iPad, iOS 15+.
- Rouse: Alarms & Routine Timers — alarms built natively on AlarmKit that fire through Silent Mode, plus voice-coached routines, countdowns, and on-device sleep insights. iPhone and iPad, iOS 26+.
- Dogear: Read & Retain — a speed-reading trainer that quizzes comprehension after every passage. Free, no purchases at all. iPhone and iPad, iOS 26+.
- CalcBoard: Multi Calculator — up to eight independent calculators on one screen with exact decimal math. iPhone and iPad, iOS 16+.
- Scroll Clash — a top-down arcade shooter with 100 free levels that is, in fact, a shooter. iPhone and iPad, iOS 15+.
Prices, free-tier limits, and offline behaviour for each are on the apps page. We also run The UI Game, a free browser puzzle game about beating interface dark patterns, and built and operated My EDU Marketplace — see the portfolio.
The four rules — for our own products
These are constraints on what ships under our name, not values on a wall, and not conditions we impose on client projects. Each is checkable in the shipped binary.
1. No advertising SDK, in any app, in any tier
Not "no forced ads". No ad code at all, so there is no rewarded video, no interstitial, no banner, and nothing that can be enabled later by a server flag. The reason is design rather than purity: an ad SDK wants sessions rather than outcomes, needs a natural interruption, and makes your failure state commercially useful. Once that incentive is in the codebase it argues for itself in every decision afterwards.
2. No third-party analytics
No analytics, attribution, or crash-reporting SDK, and no in-app event logging. We cannot see which features you use, what you read, which puzzles you play, or for how long. The cost is real — we find out what's broken from support email rather than a dashboard, which is slower and occasionally embarrassing. The benefit is that we hold no behavioural data about you, so there's nothing to leak, sell, or be asked for.
3. On-device first
If a feature can run on the phone, it runs on the phone. Reading passages and quizzes, sleep analysis, and photo-to-puzzle cutting are all local. That keeps your content on your device, keeps the features working with no connection, and removes the per-request cost that pushes AI apps toward credit meters. How each app does it.
4. A one-time price, always available
Every paid app can be bought once. Where a subscription exists it sits beside the lifetime price on the same screen, never instead of it. Scroll Clash went furthest and deleted its subscriptions entirely in version 2.0, with existing subscribers keeping the benefits permanently at no further charge. Every price, with the break-even math.
How this is funded
Optional upgrades, and nothing else. There is no advertising revenue, no data licensing, and no consumable currency in any app — no coin packs, gems, energy, lives, loot boxes, or battle passes exist. Dogear generates no revenue at all by design.
That has a consequence worth stating: free tiers have to be good enough to earn the upgrade rather than annoying enough to force it. Scroll Clash gives away all 100 levels, 6 modes, and 20 bosses. Pentire's free tier includes all 60 built-in puzzles and unlimited on-device art generation. Rouse's free tier includes alarms that beat Silent Mode, a fully voice-coached routine, timers, and a bedside clock.
What we won't claim
Three things we deliberately don't say, because they'd be easier and worse.
- "We'll never collect anything." Our privacy policies reserve the right to add limited, anonymous, aggregated diagnostics in a future release. None exists today in any app. If it ever ships, the policies and App Store privacy labels change first, it would never include your photos, messages, reading text, or health data, and it would never feed advertising or tracking.
- "Fully encrypted", flatly. Chat Local has two tiers and says so: every message gets AES-256-GCM by default using keys bundled in the app, which defeats passive eavesdropping but should be treated as strong obfuscation rather than secrecy; password-protected conversations add true end-to-end encryption that even relaying phones can't read. Conversation and display names are broadcast to nearby app users by design, because that's how nearby discovery works.
- "The only app that…" Competitors ship. Since iOS 26, other alarm apps have been adopting AlarmKit feature by feature, and we'd rather describe our architecture accurately than make a superlative that rots. Where we compare, we date the comparison and tell you to check the other listing.
Why the apps matter to a client
Every consultancy claims delivery experience. Ours is downloadable. Six apps through App Store review means the last mile — screenshots, privacy label declarations, review responses, release management, production support with real users — is routine rather than a discovery phase billed to you.
It also means the recommendations are current. We shipped two apps requiring iOS 26 because they use frameworks that only exist there; knowing which new APIs justify a minimum-version bump, and which don't, is most of what platform experience actually buys.
The rules above are ours, not conditions on client projects. If you want analytics in your app, we'll build it well and tell you honestly what it costs your users. See how we work, or tell us what you're building.
Contact and identity
Solutionflare LLC publishes on the App Store, and each app has its own support address and marketing site — pentire, chatlocal, rouse, dogear, calcboard, and scrollclash, each at .solutionflare.com. For anything else, use the contact page.
Frequently asked questions
What is Solutionflare?
Solutionflare is a software consultancy that builds custom iOS apps, web applications, business automation, and internal tools for companies, and takes on technical consulting work such as architecture review and platform selection. It also publishes six iPhone apps of its own — Pentire, Chat Local, Rouse, Dogear, CalcBoard, and Scroll Clash — which is how it stays current with App Store review and production support.
Does Solutionflare take on client projects?
Yes — that is the main business. Engagements cover mobile apps, web platforms, automation and internal tools, and advisory work where the deliverable is a decision rather than code. Every engagement starts with a free scoping call and a written scope before any code is written, and the client owns the source and the accounts. Enquiries go to [email protected].
How does Solutionflare make money if the apps have no ads?
Optional in-app upgrades, and nothing else. CalcBoard Premium is $2.99 once and Scroll Clash's Admiral unlock is $4.99 once; Pentire, Rouse, and Chat Local each offer a lifetime purchase alongside a subscription. There is no advertising revenue, no data licensing, and no consumable currency in any app. Dogear is free and generates no revenue at all.
What technologies does Solutionflare work in?
Native iOS in Swift and SwiftUI, including AlarmKit, HealthKit, WidgetKit, ActivityKit, Vision, SpriteKit, StoreKit, and Apple Foundation Models for on-device AI; Flutter and Dart for cross-platform; and Capacitor with Ionic, Vue, and TypeScript for hybrid apps. On web, full-stack applications with payments, authentication, search, and digital delivery, plus static sites built for search and AI-search visibility. All of it is in production in a shipped app.
Where are Solutionflare apps published?
On Apple's App Store. Each app also has its own marketing and support site on a solutionflare.com subdomain: pentire, chatlocal, rouse, dogear, calcboard, and scrollclash.
Will Solutionflare ever add ads or tracking to its apps?
There are no plans to, and no advertising SDK exists in any app today. The honest caveat is that our privacy policies reserve the right to add limited, anonymous, aggregated diagnostics in a future release. Nothing like that ships today, and if it ever did, the privacy policies and App Store privacy labels would be updated before that version shipped, it would never include user content, and it would never be used for advertising or tracking.
What does Solutionflare refuse to build?
Anything funded by attention rather than usefulness. No advertising SDKs, no rewarded video, no consumable currency, no loot boxes or battle passes, and no cloud AI processing of user content when an on-device model can do the job.
